Futurism: Now & Then Exhibition Catalogue

In the Manifesto of Futurism, F. T. Marinetti glorifies the idea of violence and conflict; it is the exaltation of speed, youth and action; repulsion against the past and disgust with the stagnation of Italian culture; rejection to the idea of utilitarianism and demeaning women; a passionate enthusiasm for the beauties of the industrial state. The idea of Futurism is not to just influence the formal or aesthetic innovation, but a direct influence of life. While it is a theory from over a hundred years ago, this catalogue will explore how Futurism had played such a significant role within design throughout the years.
